LIFE BUILDER. Each 60 seconds that go by introduce a fresh new minute. And each 60 minutes that go by usher in a fresh new hour. Each morning is another chance to make good or better than how you did yesterday. Everyday, God gives us fresh beginnings to make up or improve and perfect. God is the God of all hope. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” [Romans 15.13].
A chance at joy and peace. This 2015, God again gives us fresh beginnings–not to succeed materially, but to succeed at experiencing genuine joy and peace. Well, sometimes when all we understand for the moment are material possessions and what the world can give, God gives us that, not as an end in itself, but as a means to his end–to be filled with His joy and peace in this life.
Remember how Jesus, in Matthew 4.18-20, met the would-be disciples by the lake and told them how to fish? He didn’t do that to really give them a lucrative fishing business but to give them a fresh new start to the right direction. He blessed them with fish and later told them to abandon fishing altogether because now he will make them “fishers of men.” A chance at real joy and peace doing God’s will.
God gives us life’s fresh beginnings to guide us. He wants us to end up in the center of his will. He may use your job, business, hobby, or sports, bless you tremendously there to give you a fresh new start–not to succeed in this world and buy a mansion, properties, cars, and experience the good mundane life–but to discover his will for you so you may find real joy and peace in him. That’s the purpose of life.
Fresh beginnings begin with a realization of where you are and proceeding forward to the right direction. For instance, if you haven’t met Jesus in your life as your Savior and Lord, you need to repent of sins and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Then you have a fresh start, and begin to be better each day. Each new second, minute, hour, day, week, month, and year means a fresh start to be better than you were before. To increase in glory, as the bible says. “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit,” [2 Corinthians 3.18].
Life is not just about your career, accomplishments, achievements, titles, ambitions, titles, family, or even church ministry. These are mere avenues God uses so you can discover the real meaning of your life. Each life event is a new step forward to God’s goals for you–inner joy and peace in God.
May you find that this new year, 2015. Have a blessed new year!
